Our Instructors

Tony Miller - Professional Hitting Instructor

As a 1998 graduate of Lorain Southview High School, Tony was an All-State and Honorable Mention High School All-American on the baseball diamond. He was also awarded All-County, All-District, and All-State honors in football and wrestling while in high school. He was a four year letter winner in football and a three year letter winner in baseball and wrestling. Upon graduation, Tony attended the University of Toledo on a football scholarship and was also a member of the Rocket's baseball team. He was a two year letter winner for the Rocket football team and a three year letter winner for the Rocket baseball team. In June 2001, Tony was drafted in the 10th round, 304th overall pick by the Colorado Rockies in the Major Leagues first year player's draft.

  • 2001 (Rookie League): Pioneer League All-Star and Team MVP for the Casper Rockies (BA .310, 11 HR, 20 SB, 69 runs)
  • 2002 (Single A): South Atlantic League All-Star and Team MVP for the Asheville Tourists (BA .286, 18 HR, 50 SB, 100 runs)
  • 2003 (Advanced A): Visalia Oaks (injured)
  • 2004 (Double A): Tulsa Drillers and was added to the Colorado Rockies Major League Roster (BA .275, 11 HR, 27 SB, 78 runs)
  • 2005 (Double A): Tulsa Drillers team MVP (BA .280, 18 HR, 28 SB, 109 runs)
  • 2006 (Triple A): Colorado Springs Sky Sox and then was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays and played for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats
  • 2007: Final season with Chicago Cubs

Jeremy Coleman-SAQ Trainer, Baseball Instructor

As a graduate of Lorain Southview High School in 2004, Stared in three sports (football, wrestling and baseball). Was a three year letter winner in all three sports. Broke the single game passing yardage record for Southview(395) and touchdown record for Southview and Lorain County (7). He excelled on the mats hoisting a 73-34 record. In baseball was an All-Ohio honorable mention in 2003. Upon graduation Jeremy attended Lakeland Community College on a baseball scholarship in the fall of 2004 where he was a started for two years. After attending Lakeland he accepted a 95% baseball scholarship to Western Kentucky University. He helped Western reach two regional births in his last two years of eligibility, and a top 25 ranking at the end of the 2009 season.

  • Wrestling - Most improved, All- Conference, All-county
  • Baseball - 2x Offensive Player of the Year , Defensive Award, All-Ohio honorable mention, All- Conference, All-County, Hit .444 as a senior, Ranked third in the state at second base according to Buckeye Scout

College:

  • Lakeland Community College - 4x All-Conference (Fall and Spring seasons), All- Regional, Ranked 3rd on the team in hitting as a freshman. Sophomore season ranked 1st in hitting, and 37th in the NJCAA Division II with a .428 avg. 15 doubles, 4 triples, 4 homeruns, 44 RBI, and 20 stolen bases. Earned Conference Player of the Year Honors in the 2006 season.
  • Western Kentucky University - Hit .290 with 3 doubles 3 triples and 1 homerun in the two years attended.

John Brown - Catching Instructor, Baseball Instructor

As a graduate of Lorain Southview High School in 2004, Stared in three sports (football, basketball and baseball). Was a three year letter winner in all three sports. Ranked in the top five in Southview history for single game rushing yards while also receiving All-Ohio Honorable mention. Helped bring Southview its first conference title in basketball in over 10 years. In baseball he was one of the best behind the dish where he also received All Ohio-Mention. After graduation he attended Lakeland Community College along with Jeremy Coleman. Upon leaving Lakeland he received a scholarship to play baseball at Cleveland State University. Where he helped the lead the Vikings and become one of the Horizon leagues All-Newcomers.

  • Cleveland State University - Hit .305 with 12 doubles 3 homeruns and 30 RBI's in the two years attended.

Aubrey Oliver

  • As a 2002 graduate of Elyria High School, Aubrey Oliver was a First Team All Ohio Division I athlete.
  • She was awarded LEL MVP, Underclassman Player of the Year, First Team All Lorain County, First Team Elyria Chronicle, First Team Plain Dealer, and pitched her team to be the LEL Conference Champions in each of the four years she played at Elyria High School.
  • She was a four year letter winner in softball. She finished her senior year with a 0.68 ERA and a Division I State Championship.
  • Attended Walsh University on a combination athletic/scholastic scholarship, receiving the highest athletic scholarship ever awarded a female athlete at Walsh.
  • Aubrey's college performance broke school records in highest number of strike outs, lowest ERA, and winnings' as a Freshman pitcher.

Steve Procner - Pitching Instructor

Girard High School 1999-2003

  • threw back to back no-hitters
  • All-TAC team

Cleveland State University 2003-2007

  • All-Conference team
  • Drafted 28th round by the Baltimore Orioles

Bluefield Orioles R+ 2007

  • Opening day starter and never missed a start all season
  • 3-3 record in rookie season

Aberdeen Iron Birds Short Season A 2008-2009

  • Moved to long relief/spot starter role
  • Recorded 2 saves

Delmarva Shorebirds Low A 2009

  • Started for final appearance

Former minor league pitcher with the Baltimore Orioles with ten years of instructional experience. Has the ability to relate to children of every age to teach them how to have fun while being diligent. "The most important goal is to give every kid the opportunity to gain the knowledge they need to stay healthy and possibly turn baseball into a career."

Damond Mathis

As a Graduate of Elyria West High School In 1992, starred in three sports (Football, Basketball and Baseball) on the football field, was one of only four freshman players moved up to play varsity, getting time at running back. He is ranked #8 all-time in school history for lifting pounds over bodyweight. In his only year of baseball for the Wolverines, helped lead his team to its first state championship in school history. This was also the only baseball title in Lorain County history. That feat still stands today. In his first 27 2/3 tournament innings, He allowed only one earned run, an ERA of 0.25 and struck out 42 batters.

  • 5-0 tournament record with an ERA of 0.59
  • 1992 Plain Dealer Player Of The Year award
  • 1992 Hot Stove MVP and State champion
  • Professional baseball prospect of the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians and the Florida Marlins. However, a torn ligament in his throwing shoulder and rotator cuff injury, forced him to rehab and opt out of the professional baseball draft his senior year.
  • Landed a baseball scholarship to Southern Illinois University and later transferred to Bowling Green University, where the injury forced his last pitch.
  • Became Head trainer at Competitive edge Fitness in Avon Lake, where he instructed athletes of all ages and abilities. Performing sports specific training. Also geared to improve strength, speed, agility and core, which is essential in all sports. His knowledge and experience has molded scholarship athletes as well as a few Olympic athletes. He is proven in his abilities to bring out the potential of any athlete with the will to improve.
